The world’s cheapest car Tata Nano will be expensive by up to Rs. 50000 from August 2010. According to the official statement from Tata Motors, the company has not reached any confirmed decision so far but appropriate announcement shall be made in due course of time. Currently, it aims to fulfil the first one lakh orders from the first phase of its launch. The expected price hike of new batch of Tata Nano models is between Rs. 5000 to Rs. 50000.

Tata Motors began deliveries of Nano from July 2009 last year and has delivered more than 33,000 models so far. Now it’s mother plant in Sanand is fully operational and the company is expected to complete the pending orders sooner than expected. Currently, Sanand plant is producing 150 units daily or 4500 units monthly with similar production schedule is at its Pantnagar plant as well. Tata Motors is planning to ramp up the production at its brand new factory to up to 1200 units daily.

As per some of the reports from dealers Tata Nano is expected to be available off the shelf in the last quarter of this year, but the model will be definitely pricier by at least 10-12 percent than the launch price.
