Tata Nano CNG emax is now the country’s most fuel efficient car with a rendered mileage of up 36 km per kg. This compact car has been recently launched by Tata Motors in the Indian automobile market at a starting price of Rs. 2.52 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The top variant of this model (Nano LX) is available at a retail price of Rs. 2.77 lakh. During its launch, Tata Motors said that the company's core philosophy always puts customer needs on top priority and Tata Nano CNG emax is invariably a 'people car' with increased fuel efficiency. Incidentally, earlier, Tata Motors launched Nano in the country and tagged it as 'people car' due to its high affordability.

However, the compact hatchback could not do well as expected by its manufacturer. Ever since then, the company has been too fretful to make this car model as the hot favourite model of the country. The launch sequence of Tata Nano CNG emax marks the same. Also, there are rife news in the market that the auto company now plans to work its way around to develop a diesel version of Nano. Many industry experts have duly appreciated the company's decision to come up with an updated version of Nano that could provide a high fuel efficiency at an affordable price. Some are of the opinion that this new version will do well in the market due to its high fuel efficiency, low cost price and low maintenance cost.

Ankush Arora, Senior Vice President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (Commercial), Tata Motors, at the launch of Nano CNG emax said, “At Tata Motors, the core philosophy behind the launch of every new vehicle is anticipating what our customers need and blending it with the best-in-class technology and design engineering. This helps us arrive at an end product that suits the inherent automotive needs of our customers in a holistic way. From its inception, the Nano has been a path-breaking invention and the CNG version only adds to that and also underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player.” He also said, “Nano was a path-breaking invention and the CNG version only adds to that. It also underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player.”

Quite notably, Nano CNG 'eMax' is first of the five brands in the 'eMax series' of CNG cars that Tata Motors plans to launch soon in the Indian auto market. Owing to its high fuel efficiency and lower cost, the company must be hoping for high sales in the ongoing festive season and in future too. Tata Nano CNG emax comes equipped with a 32-litre CNG tank, which is sufficient enough for long city drives, when coupled with high fuel economy results in low running cost. Not only this, this compact car also has a low carbon footprint due to lesser emission of green house gases. Notably, as claimed by the company, emissions of this car are as low as 75.6 gm per kg. The CNG cylinders are conveniently located under the driver seat, resulting in a higher seating position. Equipped with similar 624 cc petrol engine, the model features a sequential CNG kit that is calibrated to its ECU. This effectively allows a shift to petrol fuel option whenever an extra bit of power is required.
