The Supreme Court ban on registration of diesel cars with engine sizes over 2000cc has been giving major automakers in the country a tough time. Recently, Mahindra and Mahindra revealed its plan to downsize its popular 2.2-litre engine to about 1.99-litres, without affecting the final power output. This time around, sources have revealed that Tata Motors has been planning on downsizing its 2179cc and 2956cc engines to help it comply with new norms.
