      Tata Motors steals limelight with Iris Electric and Hybrid bus at FAME Eco Drive

      As more and more automakers are working on offering eco friendlier vehicles, Tata Motors also wants to be a part of this green mantra. At the FAME India Eco Drive Tata Motors showcased its Electric and Hybrid bus that drew a lot of attention from visitors. The event was organized with motive to conserve energy and offer environment benefits under national scheme on Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles (FAME) India. Apart from Tata Motors, Mahindra, BMW, Lohia Motors, Hero Electric and Electrotherm have been participants.

      The Tata Iris EV is powered by electricity that is drawn from Lithium Ion battery module of 200Ah @ 72V. The traction motor generates about 17.4bhp of power and 43Nm of torque. With accommodation for about four passengers, the vehicle can cover a distance of about 120kms on a full charge. The Tata Hybrid buses on the other hand have been designed and developed for Indian conditions. The buses have also been tested on Mumbai and Delhi roads during the commonwealth games. Internationally, Spain and Madrid have already received similar ones that have covered more than 4 lakh kilometers successfully. The ones in Madrid have reportedly been tested in India and is stated to meet European norms.
