      Tata Motors sales surge 11.69 per cent in Feburary 2011

      The country's largest vehicle maker Tata Motors announced on Tuesday that it registered an 11.69 per cent increase in sales during February. The company sold a total of 77,543 units of its vehicles in the Indian market during this month as compared to 69,427 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company sold a total of 31,909 units of its cars during this month as compared to 26,985 units sold in the same month last year.

      The sales of Tata’s small creation Tata Nano surged by 101 per cent to 8,262 units during this month as compared to the units sold in the same month last year.

      However, the sales of Tata Indica series of cars saw a decline of 12.7 per cent to 10,044 units, over the same period previous year. On the other hand, the sales of 'Indigo' family of cars stood at 8,966 units during this month, registering a 22 per cent increase in the overall sales. The sales of company’s passenger utility vehicles (Sumo', 'Safari' and 'Aria') stood at 4,637 units, registering a 16 per cent increase over the units sold in the same period previous year.
