The upcoming Tata compact hatchback model is anticipated to come fitted with a 1.05 litre 3-cylinder engine in its diesel trim, whereas the petrol variant might incorporate a 1.2 litre turbo petrol motor. The company will pitch the new car against other segment contenders, namely Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ritz, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Toyota Etios Liva in the Indian passenger car market.

At present, Tata Motors headed by Karl Slym, Managing Director (MD), has ensued a brand revamp strategy in the country. The company is working towards introducing new visually appealing and contemporary models to the domestic car enthusiasts so as to drive its sales in the Indian market. The upcoming hatch is expected to refurbish Tata Motors' image as a top car maker that can be associated with contemporary and stylish products. At present, the company is chided for its dated and bland Indian line up of cars. As per reports, Tata Motors is anticipated to spend Rs. 4,000 to 5,000 crore on developing new carlines over the next 3 to 5 years, for the domestic passenger car market. Hence, stunning cars with stylish design language could be expected coming from Tata Motors in the near future.
