Tata Motors is all set to touch sales figures of million units a year including passenger and commercial vehicle sales. The company already touched 850,000 unit sales figures last year including exports and JLR sales. Now with its Sanand plant in Gujarat ready to be fully operational, it is widely expected that it will comfortably touch a million unit sales figures soon.

According to the recent statement from Tata spokesperson, Sanand plant is capable of manufacturing 25,000 units annually and the Tata is ready to ramp up the production soon. “The Nano production from Sanand started in June and should peak by January 2011,” said a senior person close to the company. “With Nano averaging 20,000-25,000 a month, up from around 7,000-8,000 units a month right now, Tata Motors should comfortably cross the million unit mark in combined truck and passenger vehicle sales.”

Currently, Maruti Suzuki in India is the only auto manufacturer that has touched such a sales figure. Maruti is now ramping up its production capacity and intends to sell up to 1.4 million units a year.
