Confirming the above statement, the company statement said, “Tata Motors today launched the refreshed Tata Indica eV2... The Tata Indica eV2 has been made even more economical with a reduction in price by Rs 23,000.”

The base variant of this flagship model is priced at Rs. 4,01,162, while top-of-the line version has been offered with a tag of Rs. 4,87,619 (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). Reportedly, the newly introduced model has been powered with a 1,396 cc common rail diesel engine, which has the potential to cover a distance of 25 kmpl.

The statement further said, “The car is also available with an MPFI petrol engine to provide customers with a wider choice. Both the engines are compliant with Bharat Stage IV emission norms.”

The well-acclaimed hatchback features a handful of modifications, which makes it look a refreshed version. The advancements include new designing at exteriors, stylish head lights, integrated stop lamp, new front bumper and alloy wheels. However, this move of Tata Motors is in contrast with the trend followed by several other big brands of Indian auto industry, including market leader Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars, General Motors and luxury car maker Audi India. All the mentioned car makers have either declared a price hike in their portfolio or are in a process to do the same any time soon. The reason cited by these auto companies for surge in prices stated that there is an unfavourable movement in the value of rupee in exchange market, which has made increased the cost of manufacturing.
