      Tata Motors eyes to set-up fresh capacity for Nano in coming months

      Country’s largest vehicle maker Tata Motors said on Saturday that it is looking for fresh capacity for its popular small car Tata Nano as the current manufacturing facility at Sanand in Gujarat will soon be running at its full capacity.

      While speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Tata Motors Vice-President (Commercial), Passenger Car Business Unit, R Ramakrishnan said, "The Nano sales have been very good. Last month, we sold over 8,700 units and within a few months time we will be running the full capacity of 20,000 units per month at the Sanand plant."

      At present, the company has al manufacturing capacity of 12,000 units a month (in a double shift at the Sanand Plant). The total annual capacity of the Sanand Plant is 2.5 lakh units which can be extended to 5 lakh units per annum, subsequently. Mr. Ramakrishnan said that once the Sanand facility hits its maximum capacity, the company would have to look for a fresh capacity.
