      Tata Kite sedan likely to be launched soon - What to expect?

      Indian autogiant Tata Motors has been taking a giant leap ahead with the introduction of technologically advanced cars in the country. The first one among the lot have been the Zest sedan, Bolt hatchback and the affordable Nano with AMT. The next-in-line is the Kite hatchback that could replace the fast aging Indica model in India. The company had also been working on a new compact sedan that would share the same platform as the Kite hatchback. For now, the test mules have been codenamed 'Kite 4' for hatchback, while the sedan has been codenamed 'Kite 5'.

      The new models would be offered in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version would be powered by 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that 75bhp with 120Nm of torque, whereas the diesel could get a 1.05-litre three-cylinder DICOR engine that would generate about 64bhp of power with 142Nm or torque. Apart from the manual transmission, the company may also offer AMT option as seen on the Zest.

      In terms of features the higher trims could be offered with safety features like Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), dual front airbags and parking sensors. As for convenience and entertainment the sedan could also get a height-adjustable feature, steering mounted audio and telephony controls ,and Harman infotainment system with a touchscreen display. The Kite based sedan would only be introduced post the hatchback launch in India. It is anticipated to be priced between 6-9 lakh bracket.
