Tata Motors has recently launched a new model of the Tata Indigo CS e-series, called Tata Indigo e-CS VX. India's leading automobile company states that this car has the best fuel efficiency. Tata Indigo e-CS VX is available in both petrol as well as diesel versions. The diesel variant is powered with CR4 common rail diesel engine, which has engine displacement of 1396 cc.

Tata Indigo CS was originally launched in 2008 at the Auto Expo in New Delhi. This sedan was credited for its compact exterior and called as the world's shortest sedan. This car is available in three variants, in both petrol as well as diesel versions. In terms of interior looks and exterior design, not much difference can be seen between Tata Indigo CS and Indigo e-CS VX. However, the car has earned popularity owing to its fuel economy and engine performance. This improved fuel efficiency and engine performance is because of the improvements brought about in the new Indigo e-CS VX.

Indigo e-CS VX has an Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) certified mileage of 25 km per litre. The company has prudently launched this diesel variant with optimum fuel economy keeping in mind the increasing fuel prices. The common rail engine can generate maximum power of 69 hp at the rate of 4000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm at the rate of 1800-3000 rpm. Additionally, this car promises enhanced gear ratios and better pick up.

The  improved mileage is because of the five technological enhancements. The first is the Smart Engine Management System (EMS) Chip, which involves perfectly balancing engine components every micro second to improve its performance. Second enhancement is the advanced design of engine head, block and piston assembly that strive to improve the intake and circulation of charge. As a result the engine will have maximum combustion of charge and increased fuel economy.

The third advancement is drag reduction, which has been done with a combination of redesigning the exterior structure along with a lighter shell and engine. Fourth enhancement is an optimised gear box that provides improved fuel efficiency and drive quality. And lastly, the tyres have been improvised to cater to low rolling losses and better ride quality and comfort.

Apart from engineering, the interior of e-CS VX has also been improved, with the latest version having double-tone beige seating and dashboard. Among other features, there is a centre console with wooden finishing, new instrument cluster and rear centre armrest. Additional features of the car include, key-less entry system, Anti-lock Braking System(ABS), blue-tooth connectivity, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, air-conditioning system, power windows and power steering. On the other hand, the new and improved exterior is another highlight, having new 14 inch alloy wheels, satin finish front grille, headlamps, outside rear view mirrors with blinkers and body coloured bumpers.

The price of diesel variant is around Rs. 5.8 lacs, while that of the MPFi petrol variant is around Rs. 5 lacs, which seems reasonable when one takes into account all that the car offers. Moreover, customers are being given a warranty of 18 months and unlimited km, for personal use only.
