      Tata-Harrier-launched

Tata Harrier has been launched in India for a price of 12.69 lakhs. The flagship SUV is available in four variants with a single engine option with manual transmission only. We have driven the Harrier and you can read our First Drive Review over here.

First showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo as the H5X Concept, the Harrier has been pitched as the new premium SUV from Tata Motors. The production-ready Harrier has retained most of the design elements from the H5X debuting the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. At first glance, design elements of the Harrier are reminiscent of the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It sports a pair of low-placed headlamps and sleek high-placed DRLs which is allegedly the new trend these days. The profile has flared arches, sloping roof and a floating effect on the D-pillar which defines the character of the Harrier. And at the rear, the Discovery Sport’s inspiration is evident in the sleek yet sharp LED tail lights and a sculpted tailgate.

The Harrier measures 4,598mm in length, is 1,714mm tall and 1,894mm wide and boasts of 2,741mm of wheelbase. The top-spec variants sit on 17-inch alloy wheels whereas the rest of the range gets smaller 16-inch wheels. Its OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) platform is derived from JLR’s D8 architecture.
On the inside, the Harrier has an all-new dual-tone black-grey cabin which takes its cues from the more expensive JLRs. The 8.8-inch floating infotainment system dominates the dashboard which has a wood-finished insert running across it. The features list of the Harrier includes an eight-way adjustable driver seat with a four-way adjustable co-driver seat, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric ORVMs, cooled storage box, umbrella holder and many practical storage places all around.

Under the hood, the only powertrain made available to the new Harrier is a diesel-manual. The Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec turbodiesel engine produces 140bhp and 350Nm. The transmission is a six-speed manual sending power to front-wheels only. Although there is no AWD version, the Harrier does come with a special ESP system with selectable modes for different conditions – normal, wet and rough.

The all-new Tata Harrier goes up against the Creta and Duster in its entry-level trim while the mid and top-spec variants rival the well-established Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. It is slightly more expensive than the Hexa.

The variant specific pricing of the Tata Harrier is as follows -

Tata Harrier XE - Rs 12.69 lakhs

Tata Harrier XM - Rs 13.75 lakhs

Tata Harrier XT - Rs 14.95 lakhs
