Tata Motors has launched the tweaked version of Aria in India at a starting price of Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelift version of Aria was rumoured to be launched on March 12, 2014, along with Tata Movus MPV, however, proving the speculations wrong Tata Motors has now officially put new Aria on sale. The base Pure LX 4x2 trim is priced at Rs 9.95 lakhs, however the top-of-the-line trim, 4x4 Pride is being proffered at Rs 14.74 lakhs. Aria facelift is priced lower than the previous version owing to the recent reduction in excise duty announced during the interim budget last month by the honourable Finance Minister of India, Mr P. Chidambaram.

The company first introduced Tata Aria in the domestic market in 2010 but the vehicle could not garner a good response. Despite many efforts put in by the company in the form of mild tweaks and price revisions, Aria failed to lure customers in India. Tata Aria is a spacious vehicle, the latest upgrades include a clear lens tail lamps, a redesigned head lights and ‘Aria’ decals on the side profile. Aria is now being offered with a Harman Kardon infotainment system which was earlier missing in the vehicle.

The high end version of Aria facelift gets a host of features including cruise control, cooled glove box, puddle lamps, electrically adjustable mirrors, rear fog lamps, follow me home headlights, GPS navigation, rain sensing wipers and the new music system.

Tata has packed Aria with a 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel motor which was also powering the vehicle’s predecessor; however the motor has been tuned to yield better performance in terms of enhanced power output of 150 Bhp. The 2.2 litre diesel motor now pumps 320 Nm torque resulting in increased fuel economy and acceleration. Aria facelift is equipped with a reworked transmission that enables low NVH levels. Hopefully, the recent upgrade will help Tata pull up Aria’s sales in India and the vehicle will get its due.
