In its third generation now, the Japanese hot hatch wears a new and aggressive front bumper as compared to standard Swift on sale in Europe and Japan. The front grille is black mesh with a tweaked design while the all-new 17-inch alloys design is something usually seen on Italian performance cars. What’s new are the dual exhaust tips sticking out of the aggressive rear diffuser reflecting the sporty intentions of the Japanese hot hatch. The new Swift Sport, unlike the two generations before it, will be available in the four-door configuration only.

On the inside, the Swift Sport will get an all-black interior with contrast red stitching and blood-red inserts all around the cabin. The tachometer too gets a red treatment, but the center screen on the instrument cluster now comes with a boost gauge in a typical JDM fashion. The infotainment screen will come with smartphone integration as well. Everywhere else, the cabin remains the same.

It has been confirmed now that the engine will be a turbocharged 1.4-litre Boosterjet from the Suzuki Vitara S. The turbocharged unit replaces the naturally aspirated 1.6-litre unit from the outgoing car, while the power bumps to around 145bhp and the torque is rated at 220Nm. Since it is based on the new platform, the new Swift Sport will be a lot lighter than the previous car, tipping the scale at a low 870kg. Thus with an impressive power-to-weight ratio, the new Swift Sport will be a ballistic pocket rocket. All the crazy power will be sent to front wheels only via a six-speed manual transmission.
