Atul Gupta, the executive vice-president of Suzuki Motorcycle India was present at the launch. He said, "We have already rolled out four products this year. The fourth is being launched today. In the 150cc category, there are two sub divisions – practical drive and pleasure drive. We would like to position Gixxer in the pleasure drive, which is the preference of the younger generation."

Gupta later added, "The 150cc segment logs sales of about 70,000 units per month. We are looking at about 10% of it". The Gixxer will be pitted against popular names like Yamaha FZ, Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache that will definitely be some stiff competition.

This mill has been designed in such a way so as to reduce all possibilities of mechanical losses, thus increasing the overall performance and achieve a high economy. Gupta said, "With this technology, the customer gets unmatched engine performance without compromising on fuel economy,"

The bike comes with some of the key features like a dual exhaust, which is a first time in the 159 cc segment. Apart from that Gixxer gets mono disc brake in the front and aerodynamic fuel tank. Complete digital display has been installed on the bike. The total kerb weight is somewhere around 135 kilograms, which is a standard in this segment.
