      Suzuki Motor Corporation has recently announced, during its investor meet at Tokyo, its new plan Suzuki Next 100 – a mid-term management plan effective from 2015 to 2020. According to the plan, the company will introduce 20 models on a global scale during the next five years. The manufacture will focus on all the main segments like small cars, compact models and SUVs. This is the manufacturer’s attempt to grab hold of the booming car market across the globe. It is expected that most of the new models will be unveiled in India as well.

      For now, the primary focus is the SUV segment and Maruti is ready with its S-Cross later this month. Expected to be launched on July 21, the model will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and later on might go on to take on Renault Duster. Also, the YBA is expected to be launched soon that will be the company’s first foray into the compact SUV market Apart from this release, the company is also looking for unveiling the YRA – the premium hatchback.

      Suzuki is more focussed to hike the production in Hungary, Thailand and Indonesia apart from Indian and Japan. The mini-car market share in Japan for the company is more than 30 per cent and compact car sales clocks around 100000 units. On the other hand, India accounts for more than 45 per cent of the passenger car sales for this company.

      According to the reports of Suzuki, the global car sales is expected to go up to 3.4 million units by 2019, moving up from 2.9 million units in 2014. In that number, Asia will account for 2.2 million units, which in 2014 was 1.7 million only. Suzuki will try to post its global market share strongly by 2020 – the year of its 100th anniversary. Suzuki will strengthen its platforms to pave the path for lower unit costs as well as concentrate on the development of petrol engines for more efficiency. Maruti Suzuki said that the domestic sales grew to 1.6 per cent on a year-to-year basis to 102626 units during June. During the first quarter of the financial year, the automobile manufacturer recorded sales of 341329 units, which was a boost by 13.8 per cent.
