Suzuki Motors Corporation unveiled its new sports sedan at the New York Auto Show 2009 today. The company has been known so far only for high performance bikes and small vehicles. This car is one of the most important models for the company as it will catapult the product portfolio into the big car segment which is currently dominated worldwide by smaller models only.
Suzuki intends to compete head on with Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion and compete fiercely in the US market. The car is also destined for the Indian market next year where it will be placed as luxury car along with Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Suzuki intends to market the car as a sport sedan and continue to play its image as a sport vehicle manufacturer.
Suzuki bikes are quite popular in India as well and the company intends to encash upon its brand image. Moreover, Maruti cars are very popular in the Indian market and have a strong foothold in the company’s auto market. A fuel efficient luxury sedan with latest features from Maruti Suzuki stable will definitely be welcome in the Indian market.
