Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motor Corporation has reportedly entered into an agreement with Malaysia based carmaker named Proton for developing an entry-level Alto-like model that would be sold in the local market. As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Licence Agreement signed by Suzuki and Proton the vehicle would be powered by around 1.0 Liter engine.
Based on the MOU signed, Proton stands an opportunity to further strengthen its footing in the automotive market. As per the MOU, Proton has an opportunity to explore diverse platform, other automotive technologies and power-trains that Suzuki has managed to gain expertise in over the years. The Japanese automaker also foresees this collaboration as good opportunity to further strengthen its financial standing in this automotive sector.
