      Suzuki A-Wind concept expected to be displayed at 2014 Auto Expo

      As the 2014 Auto Expo is fast approaching, the Indian car market is abuzz with presumptions about models that will be on display at the upcoming motor show. Major car companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Ford, Volkswagen and Hyundai are expected to display a bevy of vehicles including various concept cars that will inspire the design of future generation models. Talking about concepts, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki recently showcased its small hatchback design car named A-Wind at the Thailand International Motor Expo. After this development, strong rumours have started circulating that Maruti Suzuki might be displaying then A-Wind concept at 2014 Auto Expo.

      At the Thailand Motor Show, Suzuki confirmed that the first production car to be inspired from the A-Wind concept is currently under the development procedure. Sources believe that the global launch of A-Wind inspired hatchback will take place in 2014. In the A-Wind concept, Suzuki showcased its might in depicting what future holds for small hatchbacks. With Suzuki already confirming that the next-generation hatchbacks would be inspired by A-Wind concept, experts are betting high on the same to arrive in India. Strong reports have suggested that Maruti Suzuki might unveil a small hatchback based on the A-Wind concept.

      Meanwhile, the Japanese car maker grabbed a lot of headlines at the ongoing 2013 Thailand International Motor Show, in which it showcased new A-Wind concept in bright Energy Yellow and Panoramic Blue shades. The dimensions of car stood at 3600 mm in length, 1600 mm in width and 1540 mm in height along with the 2425 mm wheelbase. Owing to these dimensions, the headroom and legroom space offered for rear occupants was quite good. As told by Suzuki, A-Wind concept was powered by a 3-cylinder 996 cc petrol engine coupled with CVT transmission system. The car rode on 185/55 R16 tyres that were given on 16-inch alloy wheels.

      In the exterior design, Suzuki gave away a tall-boy structure to the compact hatchback, a design that is not found on entry-level cars. In order to provide an aggressive front fascia, Suzuki has given twin chrome slats that stretch out till the headlamps. At sides, the smooth character lines run from rear to front end, lending a sleek appearance to the car. Apart from this, other highlight of A-Wind concept is the presence of pull-type door handles, a feature mainly given in premium hatchbacks.

      As far as interiors are concerned, Suzuki has given a premium feel inside the car using light shades to create a soothing ambience. With the provision of dual tone colour scheme, the cabin space looked quite amazing. The quality of plastic given on the dashboard looked quite upmarket while the design of the central console was carried over from the current-generation Swift. The distinct addition in interiors of A-Wind hatchback was its large display screen provided on the central console. This feature was among the first given by Suzuki on any of its hatchbacks.

      It is likely that Suzuki A-Wind concept will make it to the 2014 Auto Expo. Reports are even suggesting that the first car to borrow its bits from A-Wind concept would the next-generation version of A-Star, which is expected to arrive in India by 2014.
