Supreme Court extends ban on diesel vehicles in New Delhi

The Supreme Court decided to extend the ban on sale of diesel cars, waiting for a concrete solution from the Central Government to curb pollution. The ruling will affect majority of the full-sized SUVs and MUVs like the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari and the recently launched Toyota Innova Crysta, apart from many of the luxury cars.

The ban on diesel taxis that have not been moved to CNG, imposed on April 30, has been tweaked. The taxis with All India Travel Permit will be allowed to ply till expiry of their existing permits.
