The most insane dream a motorcycle rider ever has should be to race the Isle of Man TT. Subaru, back as the sponsor of the IOM TT, went about it on four wheels and how. Mark Higgins, a rallyist and a stunt driver, lapped the Isle of Man TT’s 37-mile course in a record 17 minutes and 35 seconds in the Subaru WRX STI smashing his previous record of 19:26 minutes.

The car in question, the Subaru WRX STI, was built in collaboration with Prodrive – Subaru’s partner through three World Rally Championships. The measly 2.0-litre petrol engine is turbocharged and develops a massive 600bhp of power propelling the 1175kg four-wheel-drive car around the mountain in just over 17 minutes at an average speed of 128.73mph (207.17kmph).

For those who know, the 37-mile course is almost as narrow as the bylanes in our metros and for a race that is run on everyday roads, the speeds are unbelievably high. The margin for error is almost non-existent when you are inches away from the stone-walled fences and porches going at least over 100kmph while turning in.
