      There is a growing trend among Indian bike lovers to opt for heavier and more powerful bikes nowadays. Gone are the days, when the commuter segment was the leading profit making category in bikes. India is, undoubtedly crazy about bikes and this has resulted in manufacturers trying and testing different models in India. Also, this has result in a variety of sports bikes, cruiser models and other such variants to be introduced in the country. This has encouraged Indian manufacturers to try out several new models in the country. There is a growing popularity of sports bikes in India. Among these, two of the most popular are Hero Karizma R and Yamaha YZF-R1.

      Yamaha YZF-R1 is powered by a 998 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-valves DOHC mill, which has a forward-inclined parallel four-cylinder arrangement. The maximum power, which can be produced from the engine is 200 PS at the rate of 13500 rpm. The net twisting force for the bike is 112.4 Nm at the rate of 11500 rpm. Wet sump lubrication system is used in the bike, which makes it way smoother. Multiple, wet type disc clutch is used for a smoother gear change. The bike comes with a Fuel Injection lubrication system. Power is transmitted to the six-speed constant mesh gearbox using a chain transmission. The fuel tank capacity of the bike is 17 litres, making it quite suitable for long rides. The wet weight of the bike is nearly 199 kilograms.

      On the other hand, Hero Karizma R is powered by a 223 cc, four stroke, single cylinder engine, which is capable of generating 19.2 bhp power at the rate of 7500 rpm. The net torque output for the bike is 19.35 Nm at the rate of 6000 rpm. The bike can clock up to 126 kilometres per hour. Power is sent to the rear wheel using a five-speed manual gearbox. Multiplate wet clutch type makes the gear switch a smoother affair. The city mileage for the bike is 35 kilometres per litre, while on highways, the bike can return around 45 kilometres for a litre. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres and weighs at 154 kilograms.
