      Ssangyong Tivoli Compact SUV to be showcased at 2015 Geneva Motor Show

      Ssangyong, the South Korean automaker owned by Mahindra & Mahindra, has announced that the Tivoli SUV will make be showcased to Public at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.The vehicle will go on sale in the European and other global markets from May 2015. The vehicle was first unveiled in South Korea.

      The compact SUV shares most of its styling with the XIV Air and XIV Adventure concept, which were unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The SUV features an aggressive front fascia with modern silhouette. It has newly styled grille, flanked by sweptback headlamps with integrated daytime running lamps, wider in-takes and new design fog lamps. The wheel arches have been fitted to smartly designed alloy wheels while the wing mirrors gets integrated blinkers.

      The Ssangyong Tivoli will be powered by a new e-XGi 160, 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 124bhp and a peak torque of 157Nm. This engine will be coupled to either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. While the manual version is claimed to return 12.3kmpl, the automatic variant delivers 12kmpl of mileage. The vehicle will also get a new 1.6-litre diesel engine.

      Mahindra is yet to decide about its launch in India. But considering the growing popularity of compact SUVs in India, we believe that Mahindra should launch it here.
