SsangYong’s Tivoli XLV is based on the Tivoli’s platform and in the process shares an identical 2600mm wheelbase. However, it differs from the regular Tivoli by the extra length of 238mm that it gains after the C-pillar. The car maker added that the boot space has swollen to 720litres and also claimed that the design revisions have not changed the Tivoli’s design cues. “Following Rapid growth in the compact SUV market, SsangYong responded in 2015 by launching Tivoli, its first small SUV, and already the company’s most successful new car. Some 64,000 cars were manufactured and sold around the world last year,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.

Earlier this year at the Delhi Auto Expo, Mahindra displayed the Tivoli and showed its interest to launch the car in India before the end of 2016. Now with the Tivoli XLV being introduced in markets abroad, Mahindra could get it to India, keeping in mind the dynamics of our market. The Tivoli is expected to get the 1.6-litre Falcon engines in both the petrol and diesel avatars. The 1.6-litre petrol engine makes 125bhp and 157Nm of torque, and the diesel 1.6-litre produces 113bhp and 300Nm of torque. While a six-speed manual transmission will be used to send power to the wheels, Mahindra may propose to offer an automatic gearbox to the equation too. An all-wheel-drive variant may also make it to the choice of variants.
