Leaving your car parked in a deserted street does often give you a sense of insecurity. Car locks being opened to grab hold of expensive electronics by thieves is not a new thing. This time around, Five-time Indian National Squash Championship winner Ritwik Bhattacharya who also ranks in World Top 100 for the last nine years, is the latest victim to car break-in for stereo theft. Ritwik has reported the matter to Bandra Police station and the case in under investigation.

The Police are relying on CCTV footage from the locality to track the culprits. Speaking more on the occasion social activist Aftab Siddiqui said, “Such thefts were rampant in the Juhu-Bandra belt, but are now under control. Police should increase patrolling to stop such offences.” Car break-in are common and many victims do not approach law enforcers to avoid legal hassles. Police normally pick-up roadside drug addicts in the case who are mostly responsible, but in some cases it has also been seen that people from affluent families indulge in such thefts to fund their lifestyles. Earlier this year, Bandra Police had arrested a son of an affluent businessman who drove around in a BMW yet used to steal electronics from expensive cars.
