In utility vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki operates through Ertiga, which was launched in April 2013. Compliant with BS-IV emission norms, the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) of Maruti Suzuki is known for its good mileage figures. Deriving power from its K-Series petrol engine, which is highly fuel efficient, Ertiga delivers an average of 16.02 kmpl. As the petrol version of Swift is equipped with VVT (Variable Valve Timing), it returns an average of 18.6 kmpl under different road conditions. Whereas the 1.3-litre DDiS unit of Swift is equipped with a combination of a turbocharger and intercooler that helps in extracting a better fuel economy. With this, the diesel version of Maruti Suzuki Swift gives away an average of 22.9 kmpl as certified by ARAI.
Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire
In entry level sedan segment, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire has been performing well for a long time now. The car is admired for its potent engine which gives away refined performance. Powered by the same petrol unit given in Swift, DZire gets a 1.2-litre unit that is equipped with VVT technology. Owing to this, petrol Swift DZire returns a best-in-class average of 19.1 kmpl. However, the average of its manual and automatic variants differ by a small margin as the latter gives away a mileage of 17.4 kmpl. Talking about the diesel version of Swift DZire, it gets the same 1.3-litre DDiS unit that returns a mileage of 23.4 kmpl under ARAI tests.
Maruti Suzuki SX4
SX4 is counted among the low faring cars in Maruti Suzuki's portfolio as the competition is getting stiffer in the mid-size sedan segment. Over the years, SX4 has not performed as per the expectations of consumers and company as well. However, the car has been appreciated by many critics for its good fuel economy. The petrol version of SX4 gets a 1.6-litre mill with VVT technology. As claimed by the company, the engine of SX4 posses an ability to give away a mileage of 15.5 kmpl for the manual variant. In case of the automatic trim, the car gives away a reasonable figures of 12.6 kmpl. Coming to the 4-cylinder 1.2-litre DDiS unit of SX4, it has got dual overhead cam shaft that renders an average of 21.5 kmpl under normal driving conditions.
