Skoda Auto India will be launching its new SUV model Yeti in the Indian market on 18 November priced at Rs. 17 Lakh. Earlier this year in May Skoda Auto India celebrated the festival named “YETI val” to make the product known to the world. The car has been displayed in various Indian cities ever since it was first unveiled earlier this year. It will be the company's fifth product in its Indian product portfolio.
Yeti comes as a compact suv featuring 2.0 litre diesel engine and features a satisfying package of innovative technology. The highlights are Power- 140 BHP @ 4200 RPM, Torque – 32.63 KGM @ 1750- 2500 RPM, Maximum speed – 160 kmph, Transmission type – 6 speed manual, Gears – 6, Fuel type – diesel fuel, Tank capacity – 60 litre.
With the launch of several models in India, Skoda is eyeing to take advantage from the booming auto market of developing India as the growth in the auto markets of developing economies has been remarkable during these days. Skoda Yeti, in the words of Mr. Thomas Kuehl (Board Member & Director, Sales & Marketing) is going to be a ‘Cult Car’. Skoda claims that they have already received 1000 bookings even before the launch!
“We are looking at offering the smoothness of car like drive while maintaining the toughness associated with an European SUV in the Yeti. We have adopted the ‘rough road package’ in the vehicle to make it compatible for local Indian conditions, as the original vehicle is more suitable for Europe and other markets,” a senior Skoda Auto executive said, preferring not to go on record.
