Skoda, the Czech automaker is reportedly working on a compact crossover, which is scheduled to go on sale in late 2017. Adding to it, the company is also planning to launch a 7-seater SUV, Codenamed as A Plus, which will go on sale in 2016. While the compact crossover will be positioned below the Yeti SUV, the 7-seater SUV will be introduced as premium offering and will rival against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

The small SUV will be launched in the B segment of crossover and will rival against the likes of the Fiat 500X, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and the Jeep Renegade. The seven seater crossover will be offered in both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems. However, the entry level compact crossover will be sold exclusively with a front wheel drive layout.

According to the French media, Skoda’s compact crossover is reportedly based on the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun platform and is expected to get a range of three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The reason behind this development is the growing demand for SUVs and crossovers across the globe.
