      Skoda to Replace Octavia in India

      According to a recent statement from senior official from Skoda Auto India, the company is now planning a successor of its premium sedan Octavia in the country. It is developing a new car model that will be placed in the C segment and will replace its existing sedan. "We are developing a completely new car, to be successor of Octavia...It will be a car also positioned in the 'C' segment," said Skoda Auto India Sales and Marketing Director Thomas Kuehl. The model is expected to hit the Indian domestic market by 2012 or end 2011.

      He also stated that Skoda’s new SUV model Yeti will also be available in India within next one month. The company has already been previewing the model in various cities of India. It had also displayed the model earlier this year at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. "I will discuss the price of the car when we launch it... We will be launching two versions with two litre engines..", he said.

      Skoda recently launched an upgraded version of Fabia with a hefty price cut of up to Rs. 60,000. The new 1.2L petrol version is now available at Rs. 4.32 lakh.
