Amidst the speculations of renowned auto makers revamping their existing models, the Czech auto maker, Skoda is also not lagging behind. With the idea of refurbishing its exclusive sedan, Superb, Skoda will be redefining luxury statement of the car. Speculations are rife that the remodelled Superb will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, commencing in February. The company was in limelight earlier with the unveiling of its all new Octavia but this time, it has taken the innovations to a new level and decided to elate its customer base with new concepts.

The ongoing version of Superb comes equipped with an option of 16-valve, 1.8-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The petrol version is incorporated with a 4-cylinder mill, developing 158 bhp with a maximum torque of 250 Nm, and blended with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission options. The diesel variant produces a power output of 138 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm, provided with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both variants are front-wheel drive and come fitted with McPherson suspension for optimum driving experience. Adding to the world class driveability is the front and rear hydraulic disc brakes and electro mechanic power steering.

However, the redesigned version will feature tweaks at exteriors and interiors as well. The Skoda logo will be mounted on an all-new front grille, along with new front fenders and bonnet. Headlights will be tapped with bi-xenon lights and LED elements will be lumped on the outer body. The head lights and fog lamps have been slightly upgraded to provide a finishing touch to the new body. The rear lamps are enlarged as compared to the current version. Interiors have also been slightly changed and the new car will flaunt a four-spoke steering, new gear lever, vivid colour schemes and automatic reverse parking system. It is also anticipated that the next generation Superb will come packed with modern technical features, such as seat air conditioners and satellite navigation.

Experts are of a view that the domestic presence of Skoda Superb is not laudable at present, but the refurbished version might achieve the feat, which former failed to accomplish. It must be noted that the new model of Superb will square off against the likes of Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Jetta. The Czech auto maker might have to come up with lucrative schemes to publicise its new design and tempt the domestic buyers.
