The Skoda VisionS concept has taken shape and is due to be unveiled in production form as the brand’s first ever full-size SUV offering. The vehicle, spotted recently on test, will be called Kodiaq and is likely to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

Despite the camouflage, the familiar Skoda grille and thick bumper is apparent. The headlight design, too, is similar to the one on the Superb. The Kodiaq will be powered by a range of VW Group engines including a 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit. The more popular 1.6 or 2.0-litre diesel engine will also be on offer, in various states of tune. The latter will include the 237bhp twin-turbo diesel from the Volkswagen Passat. The Kodiaq will be available as front and four-wheel drive vehicle with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option.

The concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show had an all-wheel drive petrol-electric hybrid powertrain and the production model is likely to feature the same tech. The Kodiaq will go on sale sometime next year, following a grand debut later this year.
