The Monte Carlo Edition of the Rapid has been on cards for quite some while now, And Slovakian manufacturer is finally launching the special edition car next week. Changes are expected to be majorly cosmetic, while under the hood the car will continue to be offered with existing drivetrains.
Differentiating the car on the outside will be an all-new shade of red. Adding contrast will be a black grille, wing mirrors and yummier 16-inch alloy wheels. We also expect the car to get a subtle body kit to further enhance its sporty pretensions. As for the interior, the vehicle will get an all-black theme and faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard. The vehicle will get a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and unique floor mats. In order to distinguish it from a regular model, Skoda will be offering upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sport pedals.
The power source is expected to be the same. The diesel motor will be the same 1.5-litre engine producing 108bhp, while the petrol variant will get the same 1.6-litre motor that makes 103bhp. The petrol engine comes mated to five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. On the other hand the diesel engine is offered with a choice of a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG gearbox as an option.
