The Rapid sedan has been one of the bestselling models for Skoda in India. As revealed by sources, the company has been planning on introducing a facelift model this year, possibly during the Diwali festive season this year. It is believed that this would indeed be the first major update to the vehicle since its inception in the country way back in 2011. The one sold in the international market is said to be bigger than the current one.
The Skoda Rapid is currently offered in 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine options. Sources believe that the 1.5-litre diesel trim shall be infused with locally sourced turbocharger that offers improved power output. However, sources have further added that the powerful diesel option would be introduced only after a few months of the new model being launched in India.
In terms of fresh upgrades, the new Rapid would be offered with metal changes like new grill, new bonnet, fenders and front bumper headlights. The vehicle’s new front end shall share some resemblance with the one offered in the international markets. It would also get some more angular styling that can be seen on the Octavia as well.
