Skoda India officially reveals info on Kodiaq and Octavia RS

Skoda India, as we know, is working on bringing the hot version of the Octavia and an entirely new luxury SUV in the coming months. The models in question are the Octavia RS and the Kodiaq and while the RS will arrive next month, the latter will be launched by the end of 2017.

Starting with the Octavia RS, Skoda will launch this new model in its 230bhp petrol form. Design wise, it will sport a more aggressive bumper, bigger wheels and a spoiler. Inside, occupants will be treated with sporty front seats, contrasting stitching for the leather bits and a sportier steering wheel.

Under the hood, the RS will feature a 2-litre turbocharged petrol motor with 230bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The car will also get an electronic limited slip differential on the front axle for maximum traction under power. When launched, the Octavia RS will be sold as Skoda’s halo model for India.

Next up is the immensely practical Kodiaq with seating for 7 occupants and a fairly large boot. Measuring 4,697mm in length, 1,882mm in width and 1,676mm in height, the Kodiaq is a full-size SUV. Skoda India will initially roll out this car with the popular 2-litre TDI unit with around 150bhp of power and all-wheel drive configuration. The India-spec car will also get a DSG automatic gearbox and driving modes. Speaking of features, the top-spec Kodiaq will come loaded with leather seats, ambient lighting, multiple cameras for a 180 degree view and Skoda’s 9.2-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The Kodiaq will be launched by the end of this year. It will go up against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe and the Ford Endeavour in the luxury SUV segment.
