Skoda cars to get dearer from 1 January 2018

Skoda India announced today that their entire product line-up will get a price hike from 1st January 2018. The price increase will range from 2 – 3 per cent depending on the product and variant, says the Czech carmaker. Skoda has quoted the changing market conditions and various external economic factors as the reason behind the price hike.

It is a common practice from manufacturers to increase the prices of their product at the turn of the calendar year. This is usually done to compensate for the poor sale at the end of the calendar year. The end of the financial year within the next few months also tends to affect the manufacturers to change the prices of their portfolio.

Skoda currently sells four models in India – three sedans that include Rapid, Superb, Octavia and the newly-launched Kodiaq SUV. The carmaker has a network of 67 sales and 66 service outlets across the country and has sold over 2,46,340 units in India since its inception in November 2001.
