      Skoda Auto registers 11.8 percent jump in global sales during Q12011

      Skoda Auto, a subsidiary of the largest European car maker Volkswagen AG, has registered a sales surge of 11.8 percent in the first quarter of this year. The Czech Republic based company managed to sell a total of 242,700 cars during this period. China and India remained a major contributor in the company’s sales in this quarter with registering a considerable surge as compared to the Q1 2011.

      As per the company, the total sales in the month of March’12 stood at 95,200 units, recording an all time high monthly sales by registering a surge of 12.1 percent.

      Speaking on the company’s performance during the month, Skoda Auto’s board member in charge of sales and marketing,Mr. Juergen Stackmann, said, "Bucking the trend, we managed to raise sales in the difficult conditions of the global market.” He added that in the coming months, the company will expand the range of their models with new, attractive cars.

      In year 2011, the company registered a steep rise in its sales to 879,200 units, accounting a record sales growth over the sales of previous year. In India, the company sold a total of 11,500units in the first quarter of this year, up 40 percent as compared to the previous years.
