Skoda Auto India Private Limited, subsidiary of Skoda Auto (Czech automobile manufacturer), declared that Sudhir Rao will be the new Managing Director of the company. Sudhir Rao will take charge of his responsibilities as the Managing Director of Skoda Auto India on 1st March 2012. Born in India, the 52 year old executive boasts of work experience in the international automobile industry as well as is familiar with the scenario of the Indian auto market.
According to Winfred Vahland, Chief Executive Officer, Skoda Auto, "Rao is a top automobile manager with many years of experience and an international background. He also knows the Indian market perfectly. Under his responsibility, Skoda Auto India will vigorously continue its successful evolution of the past ten years and further consolidate its good position."
In the past, Sudhir Rao was the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Renault India. Before working as the Chief Operating Officer, Sudhir Rao acted as the Chief Executive Officer for country’s leading independent manufacturer of engines and transmissions.
For Skoda, the Indian automobile market will play an important role in company’s upcoming plans. According to Czech automaker, the company is planning to reach minimum sales of 1.5 million units per year by 2018.
