Nissan, the Japanese auto maker, has concrete plans to attain a prominent place in the Indian automobile market. With the spree of models that it is launching, it would not be a surprise if it is soon going to overtake some of the best selling cars of the Indian auto market. the auto maker is planning to launch a new model, Nissan Micra Nismo in the country, which would come equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This model was showcased in Japan, in September 2013, amidst great hype. The bookings of this highly anticipated model have already started in Japan and it is speculated that the domestic market would soon see this model by Nissan.

The hatchback has gone through a few cosmetic changes such as side skirts, outer rear view mirrors, Nismo badge on the grille and sharply designed bumper loaded with day-time running lights and large air scoops. Nismo happens to be the motorsport section of Nissan, which has set an altogether new record in the stock market. Moreover, the rear bumper would be implemented with a performance exhaust and black rocker sill. On the interior front, the bucket seats get rich upholstery, a red dial tachometer is added and a padded steering wheel is offered for better grip.

The suspension system has gone through an upgrade as well, which is expected to come along in the Indian edition. Moreover, 16-inch tyres and sporty design alloy wheels would find its way to Nissan Micra Nismo. In Japan, the auto maker has come out with two trims, namely Base and S. The ‘Base’ version gets just the exterior upgrades and comes with 1.2-litre engine and CVT transmission. As per sources, the Indian version would get the Base version for now. Besides this, the S variant that stands for Sports gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine that belts out 114 bhp of power because of ECU re-mapping. This is the variant that is being sold in Japan but it is speculated that the Indian version might churn out 99 bhp of maximum power, similar to what Nissan Sunny delivers.

Since the news is not confirmed by the company officials, there are rumours in the market as per which the Indian version might just come with few cosmetic modifications and a new engine. The add-on feature of a performance exhaust and a suspension tune-up might as well be struck off so as to maintain the affordable price tag. It is a known fact that the Indian market is governed by price so the company may have to compromise on some features.

It must be noted that the biggest reason behind discouragement of buyers from a model is its pricing. Even though a lot of buyers expect the price of Nismo Micra to be somewhere around Rs. 8-9 lakh, strategic pricing could help the Japanese auto maker in India. As per analysts, aggressive pricing might assist shoot sales of this anticipated model of Nissan. Few industry experts are also of a view that Indian market might have to wait for a few months before it can catch a glimpse of Nismo Micra.
