The ban will be in effect for a duration of three months from January.

The tribunal has even asked the state and even central government officials to stop buying diesel cars in its fleet for Delhi. This order from the apex court is a major blow for all the luxury car manufacturers. Most of them have engines in excess of 2000cc and this will be an impact on them. Automakers like Tata Motors and Mahindra’s SUV range will be affected too, as the Tata Safari Storme, Aria, Mahindra Scorpio and even XUV500 will be affected with this.

There was a notice earlier on issued by NGT to the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and even the Delhi government.
