      SC to ban diesel engines more than 2000cc in Delhi

      Supreme Court of India has banned the registration of cars powered by diesel engines in excess of 2000cc. This new law has been passed after NGT (National Green Tribunal) had stopped the registration of diesel cars in Delhi till 6th of January. The ban will be in effect for a duration of three months from January.Car made pollution

      The tribunal has even asked the state and even central government officials to stop buying diesel cars in its fleet for Delhi. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, sales & marketing) Honda Cars India said, ”Such a sudden changes will impact the in a way a that it creates confusion and uncertainty in the minds of buyers. There should be comprehensive study on the sources of pollution.”

       

      This order from the apex court is a major blow for all the luxury car manufacturers. Most of them have engines in excess of 2000cc and this will be an impact on them. Automakers like Tata Motors and Mahindra’s SUV range will be affected too, as the Tata Safari Storme, Aria, Mahindra Scorpio and even XUV500 will be affected with this. 

       

      There was a notice earlier on issued by NGT to the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and even the Delhi government. The SC of India had even stopped the entry of trucks registered before 2005 in the NCR and there was even a hike in the cess on trucks that were entering Delhi.
