      Royal Enfield Continental GT all set to launch in India

      Since the Indian audiences are now more adaptable in buying super bikes, many manufacturers have felt the urge of introducing such high-end models. As the Indian market is generally known for generating good volumes, bike companies are looking to expand their bases in the country. One such company is Harley-Davidson, which happens to be leading premium motorcycle brand of the country, currently. However, as the companies are slowly realising the growth prospects in India, the expectancy of high-end motorcycles has increased from them. It was recently reported that Royal Enfield is in-line to introduce its much acclaimed Continental GT 535 model in the country. The launch date ascertained for the launch is believed to be on 26th of November 2013.

      Claimed to be the fastest, lightest and most powerful bike ever built by the company, Continental GT 535 is expected to delight many biking enthusiasts. The bike is already on offer in some of the European countries and could be making its debut in India soon. Experts are betting high that Royal Enfield would price Continental GT 525 at a starting price of Rs. 2.5 lakh. The power packed cafe racer of Royal Enfield is equipped with a 4-stroke, 535 cc engine, which is capable of churning out 29.1 bhp while giving away 44 Nm of torque. The engine of the bike is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox to further transmit the power to its rear wheels. Deriving power from this engine, the bike has an ability to clock a top speed of 140 kmph. Royal Enfield Continental GT is the lightest bike ever made by the company as it possess a kerb weight of 184 kg.

      Based on Continental GT 535, the upcoming bike bears a Cafe Racer design, which is characterised by the low-slung handle bars. In order to give a better handling to the bike, Continental GT rides on new Paioli rear shockers. Furthermore, its engine is mounted on a chassis frame. Continental GT 535 is offered with 41 mm discs, which are also provided on Thunderbird. The company has also altered with the instrument panel giving it a more modernised feel. For ensuring a sportier riding position for the driver, the auto maker has given low clip on handlebars. According to sources, the upcoming bike will be assembled locally at the Orgadam plant of the company in Chennai.

      Earlier during 2012 Auto Expo, Royal Enfield Continental GT was unveiled by the company and since then Royal Enfield took a long time to introduce it. At that time, the bike was showcased as a Cafe Racer Concept. It must be mentioned that cafe racer bikes are majorly known for their fine tuned engines that give away superlative performance. One of the main highlights in the design of cafe racer bikes is its elongated fuel tanks and low slung handle bars that give a sportier riding position. However, industry experts are saying that Royal Enfield must have given a higher specification engine in Continental GT 535.
