Renault has officially revealed the Kaptur crossover at an event in Moscow, Russia. Renault India might launch this Duster-based vehicle for the Indian market in October 2017.

In terms of appearance, the new Kaptur is similar to its Captur sibling, but gets a few revisions. It should be noted that this Kaptur is not the same Captur that is sold in the European market. The bumpers have been reworked and the car gets a new set of DRLs. The skid plates, ground clearance of 204mm and 16-17-inch rims speak of the car's sporty and aggressive styling.

The Kaptur is based on the Duster platform and measures 4,333mm in length, 1,813mm in width and 1,613mm in height. Though these dimensions are similar to the Duster, the new Kaptur is based on a low-cost platform instead of the Clio platform. The car will be targeted at emerging markets like Brasil and India.

The interior of the car boasts of a seven-inch display for the infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity. The car might also get some unique features like a Remote Engine Start system. The bootspace of 387 litres can be expanded to 1,200 litres with its rear seats fully folded.

Renault has not revealed the engine specs as of yet. We can expect it to be powered by a 1.5-litre mill with the option of a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. The Indian market might also get an all-wheel-drive system in the top-of-the-line trim.

Since the Renault Kaptur is targeted primarily at the emerging markets, we can expect an aggressive pricing for this premium Duster-based vehicle. However, it would be interesting to see where Renault will position the Kaptur in its line-up.
