Renault looks set to expand the body styles on its latest generation Megane hatchback. The first car in this list is a sedan which is expected to be based on the same Renault CMF-CD platform underpinning the hatchback and will share a lot of common bits.
Crucially, this car will replace the current Fluence but is likely to retain the moniker. In its present avatar the Fluence has been around for a while but has not tasted the kind of success that Renault expected from it. This is true more than ever in the Indian market where the French automaker has struggled to move even 100 units a year despite upgrading the car last year. However, considering that this will be a completely new car with a funky design and modern setup, Renault may experience a change in fortunes.
This new Megane sedan is likely to debut next year and will probably go on sale in Europe a few months later. We are likely to get the car maybe sometime in 2017 where it will slot in directly to replace the current car.
