Renault has crossed a new milestone in India with over 1,75,000 unit sales in the country. This goes on to strengthen claims that Renault’s entry-level vehicle, the Kwid is a major contributor to overall sales.
The Kwid is available in 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine options. The 799cc petrol engine generates 53bhp of power at 5678rpm and 42Nm of torque at 4386rpm. The smaller engine gets five-speed manual as standard. The bigger 999cc engine produces 67bhp of power at 5500rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4250rpm. The bigger engine variant is available in five-speed manual and optional five-speed AMT transmission.
Speaking on the impressive sales milestone, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, “Renault Kwid has proved its mettle in the fiercely competitive mini hatchback segment in India. Like other car manufacturers in the country, Renault is also passing on the GST benefits to its customers. Depending on the state, model and the Kwid variant being purchased, total savings range between Rs 5,200 – Rs 29,500. Currently, the Kwid range in Delhi starts at Rs 2.62 Lakh.
