Renault has teased its upcoming Kwid AMT ahead of the hatchback’s debut later this year. It was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and will be third option for those looking to buy into the French automaker’s Kwid family of vehicles.
The teaser image shows the AMT gear dial which we saw in the car that was on display at the Auto Expo. Dubbed Easy-R, it will be offered on the 1.0-litre versions and will be a five-speed unit. The 1.0-litre engine produces 68bhp/90Nm of torque with power going to the front wheels.
Externally, the only change major from the manual 1.0-litre variant will be the presence of the Easy-R badging at the rear and probably on the C-pillars. We believe that Renault will price the Kwid AMT Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000more than the equivalent manual variants. When launched, the Kwid AMT will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 which is the only other car in this price bracket to have the AMT option.
