The updated Renault Duster with a BS-VI compliant engine has been spotted during a public road test for the first time. The model is expected to be offered only with a petrol engine option as the company will discontinue its diesel powertrains before the new emission norms come into effect, beginning April 2020.

Currently, the Renault Duster is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol motor. This unit is likely to be replaced by an engine that powers the model in international markets. The contenders include the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.

We expect the BS-VI compliant Renault Duster petrol to be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which produces 130bhp and 240Nm of torque. This engine could be launched with a five-speed manual transmission and a CVT unit. An AWD variant could make it to the variant list as well.

Apart from the new emission compliant engine, there seem to be no changes on the updated Renault Duster. The model will take the same design cues from the current generation model and will be launched in India before the BS-VI emission norms kick in.
