The Renault Captur crossover will be launched in India tomorrow. This is the Frencha automaker’s second attempt into the D-segment and will see the vehicle being offered in both petrol and diesel variants. We have already got behind the wheel of the Captur and you can find our first drive review here or in the reviews section of our mobile app.

      Renault Captur

Unveiled in 2016, it is built on the same platform as the Duster and even has the same underpinnings but with a really funky design and a much bigger feature list as compared to the Duster.

On the outside, the Captur gets Renault latest design language and this includes the likes of the signature grille, heavily flared wheel arches and distinct rear end with the contrast coloured bumper element. The cabin is white and black while the touchscreen infotainment system is placed higher up and finally the instrument cluster is brand new and unique to this car. All the features offered on the new top-of-the line Platine variant are segment standard stuff and all in all it is quite well appointed.

The Captur is being offered with the 1.5-litre motor in the 108bhp/245Nm state of tune while the petrol too is a 1.5-litre and produces 105bhp/142Nm. At the time of the launch, Renault is expected to offer the car with a manual gearbox across both engines. However, in the next few months, it seems likely that Renault will have a petrol AT option as this already present on the Duster.
It will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa, Mahindra XUV500 and all the D-segment sedans. We believe that Renault will price it in the range of Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 17 lakhs.
