There are no second thoughts regarding the fact that India is fast emerging as a huge potential market in the automotive sector. This fact is further reinforced by the number of domestic and foreign car manufacturing companies who have made huge investments here to localise their production. Every major automotive company that has forayed into the country has tasted success here. In 2011, Peugeot, the French car manufacturer, announced its plans for the nation and joined the bandwagon as well. In the past, the company produced sedans in India, though that was 15 years ago.

Rumours are that the production in India will commence by end of 2013 at Sanand; however, the company has not declared anything officially.
