      Introduction

Post much wait, Maserati has launched the 2018 Ghibli in India. The latest launch emerges as the second sedan in the company’s lineup and has been positioned below the Quattroporte. The new Maserati Ghibli gets a more powerful diesel engine option along with the new cosmetic and feature upgrades. Moreover, the latest product gets an imposing design along with the traditional exhaust note which always appealed to its fan following.

The 2018 Maserati Ghibli is available in three variants – Ghibli Diesel, Ghibli GranSport and the Ghibli GranLusso.

      What’s good about it?

The new Ghibli sedan from Maserati features improved aerodynamics that helps it handle that additional bit of performance over its predecessor. The new 3.0-litre Euro V6 compliant engine produces 275bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, this time around, the engine also gets the AdBlue and start-stop technology. Top speed is electronically restricted to 250kmph, while the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100kmph in 6.3 seconds.

Based on the variants, the Ghibli is equipped with features such as new adaptive LED headlamps, the Skyhook adaptive suspension system and the Integrated Vehicle Control system (IVC), along with Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS).

      What’s bad about it?

The newly launched 2018 Ghibli is only available with a diesel engine, thereby limiting options for potential customers. Weighing a good 1,800kgs, the new Ghibli is slightly on the heavier side, but having said that, the new model is not a bad handler. Always meant to be a more affordable version of the Ferrari, Maserati cars need to do much more in terms of equipments and creaturely comforts to compete strongly against its rivals.

      The best variant to buy

The regular Maserati Ghibli diesel serves the purpose well. Priced at Rs 1.33 crores, the trim includes all the standard features. However for those who prefer inclusion of sporty elements, you have the GranSport variant. The top spec GranLusso which is priced at Rs 1.42 crores will get enhanced exterior finish and the option of Ermenegildo Zegna silk upholstery trim, which is purely for those who love self-indulgence.
