General Motors (GM) India has appointed Rajesh Singh as the new Vice President for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, which will be in effect from 1st January 2013. He will be taking the place from Ashwani Muppasani, who had held the Vehicle Sales, Servicing and Marketing (VSSM) post on an interim basis since August 2012. Singh will be based at GM India's Corporate Office in Gurgaon, and would be reporting directly to the President and Managing Director.

With over 20 years of experience of VSSM experience at regional and national levels for Maruti, he could be the ideal candidate for becoming a permanent face at GM. Previously in the year 2012, he joined Havells India Limited as Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing). Commenting on his appointment, Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, said, “ GM regards India as a significant growth opportunity and we are delighted to have Rajesh Singh leading our marketing, sales and service operations to accelerate our momentum here. We are confident that Rajesh, with his wealth of experience in the field of vehicle sales, service and marketing, will accelerate GM’s emergence as a significant volume player in Indian market.” In terms of education, Singh is also very well qualified, as he holds a PGDM from IIM, Calcutta and a B. Tech from IIT, Delhi.

GM is on an expansive growth phase in India, and Rajesh Singh should act as a catalyst for this growth to take place, with his vast knowledge and experience.
