India’s popular SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) maker, Premier Ltd. has recently launched the new compact SUV, Premier Rio, for the Indian roads, which is available at quite a competitive price tag. After the recent unveiling of the all new petrol version of Premier Rio, it is now available in both the petrol and diesel engine models. Moreover, both the variants are decent with fuel economy and quite advantageous in terms of mileage and power. The Premier Rio is available within the price range of Rs. 4.7 lacs to Rs. 6.33 lacs.
It is important to note that the difference between the new and the previous diesel version of the SUV is negligible, in terms of specifications and dimensions. However, the lately manifested petrol model that has been added to the car is expected to be of advanced version.
The new Premier Rio price for the petrol model is Rs. 4.7 lacs and is available in one variant i.e. GLX, while diesel model carries a price tag starting at Rs. 5.61 lacs. The diesel version is available in three variants namely base variant EX, DX and top-end LX variant. The freshly launched petrol model of the compact SUV is backed by the power of a BSIV compliant, 1.2 litre MPFI, 1193cc engine that delivers a maximum power of 75.5 hp at 5800 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 103.9 Nm at 3500 or 4000 rpm.
According to ARAI standards, Premier Rio offers a decent mileage of 16 kmpl for the petrol model. To induce the latest version of the SUV in the Indian auto market in an effective way, the automobile manufacturer has brought about innovation and class quotient to its features.
The latest diesel model of the Premier Rio possesses a 1.5 litre, 1489 cc diesel engine. The 1.5 litre CRDI diesel engine for the SUV generates a maximum power of 63.9 hp at 4000 rpm and extracts a peak torque of 152 Nm at 2250 or 3000 rpm. Its fuel economy remains the same as the old version with 12 kmpl in cities and 16 kmpl on highways. Its top-end variants are affixed with ABS and EBD and for the EX model there is a choice. Both the petrol and diesel variants of Premier Rio are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box. However, an automatic transmission gear box can be expected in the SUV in the coming time.
The latest petrol version of the SUV by Premier Ltd. carries a luxury appeal to it. Features like power steering, power windows, seating capacity of 5 passengers, electric door mirrors, central locking, split foldable rear seats, ABS, high ground clearance and music system speak volumes. Other features include electric ORVMs, alloy wheels, brake assist, keyless entry et al. Mahindra Bolero and Tata Sumo Grande can face competition from this compact SUV.
